In this generation-defining self-assist guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to prove u.s. how to cease trying to be 'positive' all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people.

For decades, we've been told that positive thinking is the central to a happy, rich life. 'F**k positivity,' Mark Manson says. 'Let'southward be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to alive with it.' In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is—a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely defective today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let'due south-all-feel-adept mindset that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gilded medals just for showing up.

Manson makes the argument, backed both past bookish research and well-timed poop jokes, that improving our lives hinges not on our power to turn lemons into lemonade, just on learning to stomach lemons improve. Human beings are flawed and limited—'non everybody can be extraordinary, there are winners and losers in gild, and some of it is not fair or your fault.' Manson advises us to go to know our limitations and accept them. In one case nosotros embrace our fears, faults, and uncertainties, one time we stop running and fugitive and start confronting painful truths, nosotros tin brainstorm to find the backbone, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, curiosity, and forgiveness we seek.

In that location are just and then many things we tin give a f**k well-nigh then we need to effigy out which ones actually affair, Manson makes clear. While coin is nice, caring virtually what you do with your life is better, because truthful wealth is about experience. A much-needed catch-you-by-the-shoulders-and-await-you-in-the-eye moment of real-talk, filled with entertaining stories and profane, ruthless humor, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is a refreshing slap for a generation to help them lead contented, grounded lives.

I thought this was a horrible book. Turned it off.

This is very much style (and a super promising title) over substance. Information technology may acquit 15 mins of core wisdoms, ruthlessly drawn out with anecdotal stories ... Stories that failed to connect me to the author in any mode and that and led me to the conclusion that they might well be a life-long narcissist (of one kind or another). Readers of self help-books might easily exist dismissed as existence unreliable, skewed, or perhaps over-needy. Simply pseudo wisdom has a certain unmistakable scent and this is a pungent read ...

I had to finish listening because I felt like I was listening to some random jock at a bar improvise a lecture on life lessons as opposed to someone with intelligence, wisdom, and compassion speaking. Yes, it'southward obvious that anyone tin write a self-help book, but I wouldn't recommend this one. Much preferred Gary Bishop'south "Unf*ck Yourself."
