Question How many lbs. between dress sizes approx?

I want to get down to a size 10 UK.

At 11 stone I was a size 14. At 10 stone (my current weight) I am a size 12. Would 9 stone put me at a size 10 roughly?

I have a 29 inch waist and to get it to 26 inch. I've heard it's 14 lbs (or a stone per dress size). Meaning to lose 1.5 dress size (or 3 inches) I'd have to lose 21 lbs...is this about right?

This would put me at 119 lbs (54 kg) or 8.5 stone. Seems like I a very low weight to me (I am only 5'3 though...) but I remember once I was 50 kg and I looked too thin...my arms and legs looked so long and gangly, yet I still had a belly!

    I'm so confused...help, anyone?

I think it depends on body composition rather than weight.

That said, I'm 5'4 and at 53-54 kgs I'm between 10 and 8 (UK size). At 59/60kgs, I'm size 12. So 1 stone sounds about right.
But I have been able to fit in a size 10 at 56-57kgs too (less body fat for a higher weight)

Uk3mi is right, it's all about body composition! I believe that muscle takes up less space than fat, where 5lbs of fat is clearly a lot larger than the equivalent in muscle. (Google 'fat and muscle' and look at the images that come up - I don't have enough posts to link one!)

So if you're muscular at 140lbs then chances are that you'll wear a smaller dress size than someone that is carrying a lot of body fat. An example of this is that I was just reading the journal of someone who's the same height as me and almost exactly the same measurements so would wear the same dress size, yet she weights 8st 13lbs and I weigh 10st 5lbs!!

I seriously wouldn't focus on dress sizes.. I don't know about the UK but here I can fit into 4 different sizes depending on the store. It can be really bad for ego if you go into a really cute store and their sizes are TINY and to look at the bigger number can prevent you from Buying something you really love! I am so trying to get over that.. considering now I actually WANT a bum to fill out clothes.
Go by pictures and the mirror and how you feel not by a number..
But to answer your question I found losing weight that the higher weight you are the more pounds between sizes.. and the smaller you get it's all grey area! Could be like 5lbs or nothing if your body composition changes which should be your goal not the sizes.

I agree; I'm a UK size 10 now at around 130lb but I've been a UK size 6-8 when I was heavier than this and more muscular.

I might not be there now but I've been there and there's nothing stopping me being there again

I'm 138lbs/63kgs at about 16/17% body fat and am a size 8-10 UK. At the same weight but 22% body fat I was more of a 10-12. Body composition does make a difference so weight is irrevelant really.

Exactly... my wardrobe has sizes ranging from UK 10 to 18 depending on the garment and its cut and the shop I bought it in.... shops where the target agegroup is under 20 have smaller sizes for the same number on the item than shops targetting the over 40s...
It's the fit that counts... if you don't like the number on the garment, just cut off the tag... I do that anyway as I find most of them too scratchy... LOL...

    Getting there slowly.... and slowlier

OK... so all my stats are rubbish at the moment...

DL - 220lbs.... finally... still aiming for 330....
